MAREA in 4th ESP Europe Conference

MAREA in 4th ESP Europe Conference

From 10th to 14th October MAREA team took part in the 4th Ecosystem Services Partnership (ESP) European Conference in Heraklion, Greece. The conference gathered more than 400 participants from 50 countries.

The MAREA project team was represented by partners from Baltic Environmental Forum (Latvia), University of Tartu (Estonia) and Finnish Environment Institute SYKE (Finland). The partners were involved both in organising the marine session of the conference “Plural values of marine and coastal ecosystem services towards sustainable spatial planning and an inclusive governance of marine and coastal systems” and in presenting and discussing the outcomes of the MAREA project with a wide and international audience.

During the conference, MAREA project team gave three presentations focused on the results of MAREA project:
• Integrative and data-driven assessment of ecosystem services under alternative human-use scenarios to inform decision-making in the Baltic Sea;
• Sociocultural valuation of coastal cultural ecosystem services and their linkages to human well-being: case of Latvia and Estonia;
• Measure multiple cultural service values and their linkage to ecosystem condition: an application of PGIS survey for ecosystem accounting.
