New geoportal dynamically links novel concepts of ecosystem services mapping, environmental accounting and sustainability compass into a geo-spatial representation tool tailored for key actors/stakeholders throughout the duration of the project.
A key aspect of the development of the portal is the involvement of important actors/stakeholders of the central Baltic Sea region since the development phase of the project and going on throughout the whole project through dissemination and consultation activities.
The tool will be tested in two transnational pilot areas to develop sustainable planning solutions in these areas. The geo-spatial portal is a user-friendly communication tool to decision makers, allowing participation and continuous update of knowledge and data. The tool provides an indication of best practices for improvement and alternative scenarios in support to joint decision-making.
The system can be used for self-assessment of actors’ performance in pursuit of SDGs. Moreover, the geo-spatial portal supports the joint development and dissemination of a common understanding of the sustainable use of valuable natural resources in the Baltic Sea region, while simultaneously providing solutions for new Blue growth opportunities.
